Travel Oxygen
We know that traveling with oxygen can be intimidating but with the proper planning it can be done comfortably and safely. You can travel and you don’t have to be inconvenienced. You just have to make your arrangements in advance and be willing to take extra time to confirm details prior to your trip.
Tips and Checklist:
1. Make sure you are able to travel with your oxygen.
Talk to a physician before you book your trip.
2. Make sure your portable oxygen concentrator device is approved
and allowed on your airline or transportation provider.
3. Bring a current copy of your oxygen prescription
as well as a signed physician’s statement for travel.
4. Try to avoid layovers and delays by booking non-stop flights.
5. Make sure to put all medications and important documents in your carry on.
6. Always bring your portable oxygen concentrator as a carry on and never check it
as baggage or leave it out of your sight.
7. Confirm travel and oxygen reservations 24 hours before your scheduled trip.
8. Locate an oxygen provider a head of time around your destination in case of
an emergency.
9. Ensure proper function of your device before traveling.
10. Fully charge all batteries.
11. Make sure you packed all adapters, cannula, extension cords, and other
accessories.
12. You may require additional time for security screening due to the equipment so
it is important to arrive at airport or travel hub a couple hours early.
